Holy Week Practices
The more I study yoga, the deeper I get into my faith. I was raised with an understanding that I am a dearly loved “child of God”. Easter weekend was full of joyful music, fun dresses and a complete celebration of light over darkness. Darkness that we experienced in the somber reflection on Good Friday. Light that poured through the floor to ceiling windows on Easter Sunday morning.
Light and darkness… concepts that transcend religions.
I have yet to meet anybody who has fully understood how to appropriately intersect the teachings of Jesus with the yoga world. Yet, for me, my study has led me to understand the teachings of Jesus as deeply yogic. I could talk about this for days. It is so fascinating. Here’s a link for podcast episode I was where I talk a little bit more about this.
It is my hope that if you have fallen away from church or if you “don’t know what you believe” or if you are celebrating Easter with egg hunts and casseroles but feel disconnected spiritually, that you consider participating in Holy Week at OM in Old Orchard.
It’s not going to be what you expect.
We are going to care for the human body.
We are going to go inward.
We are going to use our emotions to orient us spiritually.
We are going to enjoy a morning flow, moving the energy within us.
It’s with great hope and excitement that I offer Holy Week Practices for your Spiritual Life. There will be Ayurvedic Foot Soak & Yogic Communion with a teaching on the annamaya (body) and pranamaya (blood) koshas, yin yoga featuring Gregorian Chanting, OM’s first ever soundbath with a moving song from the Lakota tradition and Easter sunrise yoga…. possibly featuring Erin on a trombone - we’ll see.
If you are a Christian and aren’t currently in a church home or are not sure what you are doing for Holy Week, you’ll love these practices. If you have a church you love & appreciate yoga, you’ll also love these practices.
Basically, you all should come :)
These will be announced this weekend and available to those on memberships first. If you have not yet explored our unique membership models, please do! Here’s a link on how it all works and please feel free to reach out with any questions.
Oh - and we are currently meeting Wednesdays at 7p during Lent to explore the Yamas (ethics / restraints) in the context of the Lenten season. “Yamas in Pajamas” meeting weekly with the exception of 3/29.
Know you are loved. Seen. Supported. ✌🏽erin
