Preparing for Your Trip to St. Croix

What I recommend:

  • A pair of versatile shoes that you can explore, dine, kick off, slip on. Do not worry about formal footwear at all. A pair of sandals that work for exploring / long walks works great.

  • Obviously, light breathable clothing. There is great shopping in Christiansted for you to get some Carribbean wear. I will be hitting Ashu World Designs day one.

  • Plan on bringing cash or have Venmo on your phone for gratuity for drivers, guides and islanders.

  • Yoga & Practice Gear:

    • Island Movement is a warm studio - the heat panels are in the front of the main studio so for heated classes, keep in mind you can be directly under by being up front or head to the back of the main studio to avoid being under the heat.

    • Personally? I am most comfortable in this type of studio in yoga shorts or breathable harem style “Aladdin” pants with a tank and sport bra versus a full legging style yoga pant. Up to you. My restorative class - dress in comfortable loose fitting clothing.

    • Photo or trinket for Prayer with Our Ancestors to honor your lineage

    • Island Movement has a lot of fun merchandise, including crystals! Yoga Vacationers enjoy 15% off retail.

  • Your Island Essentials gift (all participants regardless of package) will include two gallons of drinking water for your room and bug spray. That being said, plan on bringing a reusable water bottle. Fill it up wherever you are (they don’t drink the tap water on island). There will be a community water available by the pool for our group.

  • Other island type things that I will be bringing this year:

    • Flashlight - the power does go off and on from time to time

    • Food storage bags, like a reusable sandwich bag, for restaurant left overs. This is a personal preference. After spending time on the island, I am trying to honor their environment by creating as little trash as I can while I am there.

    • Sunblock, some sort of hat or visor, bag to store your feathers - do not plan on attempting to bring any fruit, shells, plants, etc back home. It will stop you in airport security.

    • Small blue tooth speaker for your room or the beach

  • For our day on the West Side, I am bringing

    • A smaller tote / day pack with my beach gear

    • It’s about a 30 - 45 min drive to the West Side, so think about what you need to be comfortable after a day on the beach

Okay I think this is it for now!
